RJ ( REGISTERED JACK ) CONNECTOR
Well Today We are going to talk about RJ connector , which is stand for Registered Jack. The RJ connector , It's use as a medium in telecommunication and network interface. It's enable to network device to connect a voice and data equipment. It's mainly use a different type of data equipment and telecommunication media to take services offered by a local services provider to exchange a data for longer distance and shorter distance exchange carriers. These RJ cable categories on the basis of the structure and functions. RJ connector come with eight wires. that is meant say. it's a eight wires inside the box. All the wires come with various colors. four are in solid colors while remaining is four are stripped. These wires are combined in twisted pairs that help in decreasing the crosswalk and the canceling electromagnetic interference.
HISTORY OF THE RJ CONNECTORS
Registration Interface were invented by the Bell System regulated by a 1976 Federal Communications Commission with respect to making an order of standard interface for customers and telephone exchange companies. The standard format of the modular jack was only created for integrated services digital network (ISDN) systems. But later, modular jacks were internationally standardized in IEEE 802.3i in 1990 due to its characteristics and capabilities.
TYPE OF RJ ( REGISTER JACK ) CONNECTORS
RJ-11 :
The RJ-11 Connector often as known as a phone jack or telephone plug is a type of connector that is used to establish between telephone and the telephone line. it's a simple yet important piece of technology that has been widely use for many years.
There is a images of RJ-11 connector
The RJ11 connector is similar in appearance to an RJ45 connector (used for Ethernet connections), but it's smaller and has fewer conductors. The RJ11 typically has four pins and is used for carrying voice signals. It's important to note that RJ11 connectors are not designed for carrying data at high speeds like RJ45 connectors do for Ethernet.
RJ-11w Connector
In RJ connector here is 'w' stand for wall mount. The one is extended version of RJ-11 and is used with a wall mount functionalities by establishing a bridge connection for the telephone line.
RJ-14
This one is similar to RJ-11, but create a two line and four lines respectively.
Note: The RJ-14 and RJ-11 connector still in use for various telecommunication and networking application in present time
RJ-21
This RJ-21 Registered jack was designed with 50 conductor to implement 25 lines at a time. These are use in network areas with multiple switch and devices but in present time the RJ-21 connector does not use in network areas. RJ-21 connector and cables were commonly used in the past for telephone and data networking applications. There is image of RJ-21 Connector
This Registered jack's commonly too highly and is often use for three telephone lines. You can use RJ-25 connector to connect a devices, such as a telephone , fax machine , to three separate telephone line simultaneously. This is useful in scenarios where you have multiple phone line coming in to single locations , like a home office and small business areas and you want to use single device to access all of them. I apologizes don't have any image about the RJ-25 connector
RJ-45
This one is the best suited registered jack that has the ability to make connection for both unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) and shielded twisted-pair (STP) cabling in star-topology of Ethernet networks. it is one of the main registered jack with an 8-wire telephone-type connector used with twisted-pair cabling for connecting computers and its lines , wall plates , patch panels , and other types of networking components
RJ-48
This jack is one of the best-registered jacks that use the same jack as RJ-45 but uses different types of pinning, where one pair of wires is used for transmitting signals, one pair for receiving signals , one pair for draining signals , and one pair is left unused. it comes in three different types such as RJ-48C for surface mount, RJ-48X for complex jack, and RJ-48S for a wall mount. Primarily its used in LANs (Local Area Network).
RJ-45 Connector are most commonly associated in Ethernet networking. but they use for connecting devices to a local are network (LAN) using a twisted pair cables, Such as CAT5e , CAT6 and CAT6a
These connector have 8 pin and are typically use in for Ethernet cables, Including those used for internet connections to homes and offices
RJ-45 Connectors are often used in application like Ethernet switches , routers , computer , and IP address.
Use cables in RJ-48 Connector
RJ-48 Connector are used to E1 and T1Digital telecommunications connectors. These are typically used in more specialized applications, such as T1 or E1 lines for voice and data transmission.
RJ-48 Connector can also be found on types of WAN( Wide area network ) Equipment and telecommunications infrastructure.
Now, let's delve into the topic of cable used with RJ connectors
CAT5e
Alternatively known as an Ethernet cable or LAN cable , a CAT5 or category % is a network cable that consists of four twisted pairs of copper wire terminated by an RJ-45 connector
CAT5 cable is used in home and business networks , providing data transmission speeds of up to 100 Mbps. The maximum recommended length of a Cat 5 cable is 100 meters. Exceeding this length without the aid of a bridge or other network device could cause network issues , including data packet loss and data transmission speed degradation.
Wire order in a CAT5 cable
A Cat 5 cable contain 8 wires and has a specific wire order, If the wires are in a different order, the cable does not work. There are two standards , T568A and T568B, for the order the wires, Each standard is similar in performance and does not provide an advantage over the other. However , you must use same wire order on each end of the Cat5 cable.
The tables and images below display the color and order of the wires in a CAT5 cable , for each wiring standard.
The difference between Cat5 and Cat5e is that the Cat5 has a higher throughput speed of 1000 Mbit/s. Also Called Gbit/ s. This is 10 times faster than the throughput speed of a Cat5 cable , when in doubt about either choosing a Cat5 or Cat5e Cable.
